If you want to offer a product where customers gain access to information after their purchase (such as a white paper, guide, video link, or other digital content), you’ll need to create it as a Downloadable product.
Check Marketplace Compatibility
Note: Not all marketplaces support downloadable products. If you don’t see this option available, reach out to your marketplace provider to inquire about enabling this feature.
Setting Up Your Downloadable Product
- Navigate to the Product Page:
- Scroll down to the Product Type section.
- Select Virtual & Downloadable:
- You’ll see checkboxes for Virtual and Downloadable.
- Most downloadable products are also virtual (meaning nothing is physically shipped). If this applies, check both options.
- Upload Your Downloadable File:
- Once you select Downloadable, an upload section will appear.
- Click the Upload (Up Arrow) button to add your file.
- Important: Only PDF files are valid for downloadable products.
- Naming Your Downloadable File:
- After uploading, name the file. This is the name customers will see when they download it after purchase.
- Set Download Expiry (Optional):
- By default, downloads do not expire. However, you can set limits on the number of downloads or expiration dates if needed.
How Customers Access Their Download
- As soon as the customer completes their purchase, a download link appears on their order confirmation page.
- If they created an account, they can also find the file in:
- The Orders tab.
- The Downloads tab in their customer account.
Linking to Additional Resources
If you want customers to access an external link (e.g., a hidden YouTube video) after purchase, be sure to include the correct link inside the PDF file they download.
